I’m happy to report that the 36th article in the open source column of IEEE Computer has been published. As always, please consider writing an article proposal!
Title | Open Source License Obligations: Attribution and Copyleft |
Keywords | Open source, open source license, open-source software, copyleft, attribution […] |
Authors | Dirk Riehle |
Publication | Computer vol. 58, no. 8 (August 2025), pp. 149-152 |
Abstract: License compliance is the process of complying with the obligations posed by licenses upon the users of code with that license. Here, we are typically talking about open source license compliance, that is complying with the obligations required by open source licenses.
As always, the article is freely available (local copy).
Also, check out the full list of articles.
If you need help with understanding open source compliance, I recommend my (commercial) seminar on the topic as well as our tooling.
