Abstract: When you first start out as a Scrum Master, your main focus is on the team. You learn a lot about team dynamics, communication and efficiency. However, you soon realize that the “blast radius” of the impediments starts to go way beyond the team and can no longer be fixed by simple actions items derived from a retrospective meeting. By shifting the focus towards the organization as a whole, you then face a new problem: Playing by the book (a.k.a. the Scrum Guide) simply does not offer all the answers. So, you have to expand your horizon as well as skill set to become a true agile leader, mediator, coach and change agent.

Speaker 1: Mario Berger is an Agile Coach at Mister Spex with 4 years of experience in the field. Mario firmly believes that agility is much more of a mindset than a mere process that just needs to be implemented. Starting out as a project manager, he was first introduced to Scrum by chance. Following early trial and error as a Scrum Master, he soon found his calling in this role and went on to help 10+ (IT and non-IT) teams and their respective organizations on their agile journey. Mario is a certified Scrum Master as well as Lean Change Agent and holds a Masters in Mass Communications from the University of Leicester.

Speaker 2: Martin Wurm is an Agile Coach who works with Mister Spex to improve value delivery in product development. Martin believes that great teams make tough tasks look small. He has worked at as a Scrum Master/Agile Coach since 2009 in various companies, from start-ups to medium sized companies to large enterprises. He gained experience in implementing and shaping Scrum in various evolutionary steps. This includes solving challenges with scaling Scrum, increasing self-management of teams and company-wide change management. Martin is trained and certified in classical project management, Scrum and Kanban. Martin passed the erstes Staatsexamen in mathematics and historical science from the University of Saarland.
