Here the books and information sources I used.

  • Richard Montauk. How to Get into the Top MBA Programs. Prentice Hall.

A very good book that takes a comprehensive approach. Helps you get going early. I bought it three years before I actually applied to business school.

  • Phil Carpenter, Carol Carpenter. Marketing Yourself to the Top Business Schools. John Wiley and Sons.

Another, somewhat slimer, but equally good book. I used it as a backup to Montauk's book to confirm conclusions and get a second perspective.

  • Boykin Curry, Brian Kasbar (Eds.) Essays that Worked for Business Schools. Fawcett Columbine.

Good examples of successful essays. Big reading fun, even though non of my essays ended up as elaborate and out-of-the-ordinary as the examples given by this book.

  • Kaplan

Good advice on test taking strategies. Avoid the example tests and use the real GMAT tests from ETS.

  • Princeton Review

More good advice, even though I didn't like the derogatory attitude they have towards the GMAT.

  • Business Week Business Schools. http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/index.html

Uptodate information on a variety of issues.

  • Business Week Online Forums. http://forums.businessweek.com/bw-bschools/start/

Feel the frenzy, share your pain, and learn about other perspectives.
